Ofcom Makes it Easier for Broadband Users to Switch

At last it will easier to switch your broadband providor. Personally, I've been meaning to for a while but am concerned how extensive the downtime will be as switch over.

However, Ofcom started an investigation in April into how easy it was to change providor and concluded that it could be easier.

They weren't happy with the process of your old providor releasing your "Migration Authorisation code" (MAC). If it wasn't released in time you could go quite a while with no broadband connection.

Sky have reported that they're happy to work with the new guidelines.

According to Point Topic which measures broadband use, Swindon has more than 50% of it's residents connected to broadband. Whereas the highest number of connections per person is un-suprisingly in the City of London - which is because the number of businesses in the area.

The areas with low broadband use are Dundee, Carlisle and Merthyr Tydfil because of a lack of connection and a higher proportion of older people.
